WOW what a whirlwind week and weekend of fear, fun, excitement, the unknown and the comfortable.
To read the short version it is all in this next 2 lines:(Pictures Way Below)
I wont be closing the office after all and I will be working full out 18 hour days for the next 2 months anyways, but thats how it goes. Happy Birthday MOM.
Full Story below:
I had started with plans of closing down my office on Friday as I wanted to close the office before I lost to much money from the UK who has been having troubles, they were my biggest customer and basically kept us running but I was gonna close before then so not to lose to much money. I was still going to lose about 10K and in my mind I could handle that. Btu then cam thursday morning when I found out the UK had collapsed before I shut things down and they wont be paying out what they owed me. I seen it coming but being loyal to my employees I tried to draw it out as long as possible as they have bills to pay too.
So now it's Friday- my employees meet me at the office as we are going to pack it up and close everything down. We start chating about the fun we had and such and how it was a good thing while it lasted. Then the first call came in from one of the UK's customers loking for service and asking me if I can do it and how we can move forward. I ended up cutting a decent deal where we could keep the office running and work as if nothing has changed.
I have a chat with the fella's and they decided on the spot that they were definately interested in continuing to work for me. So Friday afternoon we are back online and Henry now has a lot of work to do to secure new applications and begin the changeover of service on multiple classroom websites.
Then a call came in from the Largest customer that the UK had looking to make a deal and hire my team to work with them. It works out that I have them in a deal paying me what I used to get with the UK but the contract signing isnt until next week so I wont be counting my chickens before they are in the oven.
IT is also the last weekend before the girls are back to school so I had to create a work schedule for everyone that would allow me the most time off this weekend, So I have hired a subcontractor to work for me. He is in Auz and has been working with the company before so no training was needed and being on the other side of the workd has scheduling advantages in a 24X7 operation.
Then on Saturday Anne, Derek and the girls arrived for a visit. We had a lot of fun and then on Sunday we all went to Kings landing for the first time. WOW what an awesome educational experience, and wonderful food. I had a great time. Meaghan, Michaela, Anne, April, Jennifer and Andrea got to join in on some candle making. WE learnt about how the men would put there Wool undies on in October and then be sewin into them until April. They would only bathe twice a year, all I could think was ohh yeah Sexy... :~) Wow how times have changed.
Today is MOM's birthday so we planned to go out and about again today, but I get awakened but internet people Needing me and Phone calls to be made. It appears I now have a third customer that needs the services of my team. To be honest I am now beginning to get scared, I went from a tiny business that didnt have a whole lot of responsability involved, too now having the 3 employees a subcontractor and a person on development retainer( to answer the things to difficult for everyone else). These next 2 weeks are going to be the deciding factor overall of how I keep things going.
SO today is the last day before School and I was to take the girls to the Exhibition for the day but it's raining so I will have to try and work some other kind of miracle this week. I am workign from 8am-4:30pm and then again from 8pm till 4am for the week and 8pm -noon sat and sundays. I know it is crazy but once things are settled I will hire again and put things back to normal, well as normal as they can get.
Now for some pitcures:
